I LOVE cinnamon rolls!
There’s nothing better on a chilly morning than a warm, gooey cinnamon roll with a side of straight-up black hot coffee.
And since I love the two so much, I thought it might be fun to develop a homemade latte that celebrates both!
So, stick with me as we break down the cinnamon bun latte.

What is a Cinnamon Roll Latte?

The cinnamon roll latte is a celebration of bold coffee flavor, smooth cinnamon, and a hint of brown sugar.
And this version is made with nondairy products, a feature you don’t always find in online coffee recipes.
It’s the perfect drink to get you through a snap of unseasonably cold winter weather in the Midwest!
What’s in a Cinnamon Roll Latte?

This drink comes together easily with a few simple ingredients.
Coffee
If you have an espresso maker, feel free to use it for this recipe.
Depending on how much coffee flavor you want, I recommend 1-2 shots of espresso for an 8 to 12-ounce latte.
But if you don’t have an espresso machine, no worries!
My new favorite go-to for whipping up a shot or two of “copycat” espresso is with this little gadget called the Aeropress.
It’s around $40 on Amazon, and I adore it because it makes a decent shot of espresso or a cup of coffee.
The thing I despise most about my espresso maker is the cleaning aspect.
But with the Aeropress, cleaning is simple, and as long as you rinse it after use, your next brew will taste as fresh as your very first one!
You can also use strongly brewed coffee for this recipe.
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup

If you’d like to make this recipe even easier, opt for premade brown sugar cinnamon syrup.
But it’s not too hard to whip up your own version of this flavored simple syrup with ingredients you can find at your local grocery store.
You’ll need either a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick, brown sugar, water, and a hint of vanilla extract to make your own batch.
Store in a Mason jar in your fridge for up to 2 weeks.
But you’ll love this recipe so much that you’ll finish it up way before it goes stale!
Nondairy Milk Products
I love using oat milk for all my coffee recipes because it froths well, especially when you get the extra creamy or barista style.
However, as with soy, almond milk would also work in this recipe.
I love topping this drink with nondairy whipped cream made with plant-based heavy cream for an extra creamy consistency.
It’s seriously delicious, and you’d never guess that it’s dairy-free!

Easy Nondairy Cinnamon Roll Latte Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup water
- 2 cinnamon sticks OR
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup oat milk
- 1-2 shots of espresso OR
- ½ cup strongly brewed coffee
- 4 tbsp plant-based heavy cream
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Combine the brown sugar, water, and cinnamon in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves, and add the vanilla extract. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Once cool, pour into a glass storage container or Mason jar for storage in your fridge for up to a couple of weeks.

- Add the oat milk and 1-2 teaspoons brown sugar cinnamon syrup to an automatic milk frother. Warm and froth the milk to your liking. Alternatively, you can add the milk and syrup to a saucepan and gently warm over low heat until it reaches your desired temperature. Use a hand frother or mixer to give it a bit of foam. Pour into your favorite mug.

- Pull a shot or two of espresso or make "copycat" espresso as indicated above and combine it with the frothed milk.

- For an extra treat, add the plant-based heavy cream and sugar to the frother or use a hand mixer to whip the mixture until it forms stiff peaks. Spoon over your latte, give it a sprinkle of cinnamon, and enjoy!
