What is a Cinnamon Sugar Caramel Espresso Shaker?

The base of this drink is fresh espresso, shaken (not stirred!) with an indulgent blend of real caramel sauce, brown sugar syrup, and a dash of cinnamon.
This concoction is shaken over ice to give it the signature icy chill and then poured into a tall glass with ice.
The drink is finished with a splash of oat milk.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing it, now is your chance to try one of the most epic handcrafted beverages to come from a coffee shop!
What’s in the Cinnamon Sugar Caramel Espresso Shaker?

This drink comes together quickly with a few simple ingredients you may already have in the pantry.
Espresso
Did you know that there are many ways to make espresso without an expensive machine?
My previous post, Best Coffee Makers Under $50 That Brew Like a Barista, outlines several options, including the Aeropress and French press.
You can also opt for instant espresso.
The point of this recipe is ease, so do whatever feels easiest for you!
Caramel

You can add caramel flavor in a couple of ways.
The first option is a caramel extract to add caramel flavor without a lot of added sugar.
The second way is to add caramel syrup.
The second is the richer, more indulgent option, but the first would definitely be the more health-conscious option.
Brown Sugar Syrup + Cinnamon
One of my favorite ingredients for this drink is the brown sugar syrup.
Although you can buy brown sugar cinnamon syrup online, it’s incredibly easy to make at home.
It’s the same syrup I used for my previous recipe, the iced brown sugar oat milk latte.
Simply add a bit of cinnamon, and you’ve got a delicious homemade syrup without any added colors or preservatives.
Oat Milk
The drink is finished with just a splash of milk.
Again, you’re free to use whatever type of milk you prefer, but the Caribou version features oat milk.
Any cold milk will be fine!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make a cinnamon sugar caramel cold brew?
Absolutely! Instead of espresso, use cold brew and simply combine the brown sugar syrup, cinnamon, and caramel with the cold brew over ice.
You could even finish the drink with a vanilla cold foam for extra indulgence!
How can I make this drink less sweet?
If you’re looking for less sweetness, opt for the caramel extract instead of caramel syrup.
You can also consider adding less of the brown sugar syrup.
How long does homemade simple syrup stay good in the fridge?
Aim to use it up within about 2 weeks. I like making smaller batches of syrup to ensure I’ll use it all up.
Can you make a hot version of the cinnamon sugar caramel espresso shaker?
Yes! Skip the ice and warm the milk for a warm, comforting espresso-based drink you’ll adore.
