They had some type of dark chocolate strawberry ice cream dessert that looked fantastic, and suddenly, the idea for this recipe hit me.

What is a Raspberry Dark Chocolate Affogato?

The classic affogato is a fusion between espresso and ice cream.

And the raspberry dark chocolate affogato is a mix of bold, warm espresso and a refreshing scoop of ice cream enhanced with tart raspberry and smooth dark chocolate.

It’s the ultimate treat for coffee lovers everywhere!

What’s in a Raspberry Dark Chocolate Affogato?

This recipe comes together quickly with a few simple ingredients.

Espresso

The basis of this after-dinner treat is a shot of espresso.

My new favorite method for making espresso is the Aeropress.

It’s simple, quick, and much easier to clean than my espresso machine.

And because this is an after-dinner dessert, I always opt for my favorite brand of decaf espresso

You can also substitute strong coffee for a shot of espresso.

But the delectable part about this dish is the contrast between temperatures, so make sure to use hot coffee!

Ice Cream

The other foundational ingredient of this easy dessert is creamy vanilla ice cream.

You can substitute frozen yogurt or even plant-based ice cream.

And if you really want to take this recipe over the top, try making your own ice cream.

Dark Chocolate

There are a couple of ways to add dark chocolate to this dish.

My favorite is by melting Ghirardelli dark chocolates

But you can also substitute premade dark chocolate syrup

Raspberries

I love using fresh raspberries in this dessert.

But if they’re not in season at your local grocery store, feel free to substitute frozen berries.

Since I’m always trying to cut back on sugar and love the contrast between tart and sweet, I don’t add any sugar to the berries.

But you could directly add a teaspoon of honey or sugar to the berries while blending to sweeten this treat.
