What is a Pumpkin White Mocha Latte?

The pumpkin white chocolate mocha is a delectable combination of pumpkin pie spice, real pumpkin, and a creamy white chocolate sauce.

It’s the ultimate upgrade of a pumpkin latte!

What’s in a Pumpkin White Mocha Latte?

This recipe comes together quickly with a few simple ingredients!

Milk

You’re free to use whatever type of milk you have in the refrigerator.

My preference for coffee recipes is always oat milk because the creamier versions froth well, and the flavor tends to meld well with the other flavors in these drinks.

This is my current favorite brand of oat milk, and if you haven’t tried it yet, this is the perfect recipe to try it!

White Chocolate

I love using white chocolate chips to give this drink a more authentic flavor.

However, you can also use white chocolate flavor syrup to eliminate the chocolate melting step in the recipe.

If you decide to use the flavor syrup, start with one pump, as it tends to be quite sweet. You can always add a bit more if it’s not quite sweet enough.

Pumpkin

The star of this drink is the real pumpkin puree

Add a tablespoon, and you’ll enjoy all the health benefits of fresh pumpkins with authentic pumpkin flavors.

It’s a win-win!

Spices

For this drink, I made my own pumpkin spice syrup, but you can use a premade version

I’ve found that the premade syrups sometimes have an artificial flavor that I don’t enjoy.

By making my own, the syrup gets a health boost from the antioxidants in the spices.

This recipe calls for a bit of ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves.

Espresso

If you don’t have an espresso machine, don’t worry!

You can always add a bit of strongly brewed coffee.

I will often substitute my own version of espresso because I don’t enjoy cleaning my espresso machine after each use.

My version uses a French press, which I love because I can just throw it in the dishwasher after each use.

Combine 4 tablespoons of finely ground espresso or coffee with 3.5 cups of hot water. Allow to steep for 6-10 minutes, depending on how strongly you prefer the brew.

Pour out your espresso into a separate container for storage in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • ½ tbsp ginger
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp white chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • 1 shot espresso

Instructions

  • Combine the brown sugar, water, ground spices, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan. Gently bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the brown sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the syrup the syrup to cool before pouring it into a jar for storage in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • Meanwhile, add the milk to a small saucepan and heat over low heat until warmed to your liking.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the white chocolate chips in the microwave for 30-second increments until they have melted. It will likely only take 30 seconds to fully melt the chips, and you may need to stir them to get them to melt entirely. If you overheat the chips, they tend to harden and don't mix as well into the drink.
  • Stir the pumpkin puree and espresso into the melted chips before pouring into your favorite mug. Add 1-2 tablespoons of your pumpkin spice syrup.
  • If you want to add body to the drink, froth the milk just before adding it to your mug. Stir to combine, and enjoy! For extra indulgence, add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon.

Notes

Recipe makes an 8 ounce serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make an iced pumpkin white mocha latte?

Absolutely! Use the above recipe, but hold the milk’s heating and mix the rest of it over ice. You can also froth the milk to add texture.

How much sugar is in an iced pumpkin white mocha latte?

This homemade recipe contains about 26 grams of sugar if you add 1 tablespoon of white chocolate chips and simple syrup. Add a bit more or less and adjust accordingly.

The average specialty drink from a coffee shop generally contains over 40 grams of sugar and in some cases, even more.

You’re still better off recreating the drink at home and adding a bit less sugar!

Can you make a sugar-free pumpkin white mocha?

Yes! Substitute Stevia for the brown sugar in the above recipe and use sugar-free white mocha syrup

Can you order a pumpkin white mocha latte from Starbucks?

Yes, but only during the fall season. Simply ask for a white mocha with a pump of pumpkin spice.

But thanks to this recipe, you can enjoy this drink at home all year long!
