What is the Campfire Mocha?

The campfire mocha is a delectable combination of delectable chocolate, gooey marshmallow, and bold espresso.

This drink is basically a s’more in a mug.

What’s in the Campfire Mocha?

This drink comes together easily with a few pantry staples.

Chocolate

I love using real mini chocolate chips for this drink.

Melting them down is the ultimate indulgence!

But if you prefer, try using Ghirardelli chocolate syrup for the rich flavor that this recipe relies upon.

If you’re looking for a fun twist on this recipe, try white chocolate syrup instead.

Marshmallow flavor

Similar to the chocolate, you can buy premade marshmallow syrup.

But I prefer melting mini marshmallows because I feel it gives the drink a more authentic flavor.

Milk

Many standard custom coffeehouse drinks are made with 2% milk.

I love using creamy oat milk because I’m lactose intolerant and have found that oat milk blends best in these types of drinks.

But feel free to use whatever type of milk you enjoy best!

Espresso

Decaf espresso is my go-to for any custom drink because I generally make these creations in the afternoon, and I love being able to sleep at night!

I’ve recently discovered this miraculous little device called the Aeropress.

It makes a decent shot of espresso and is super easy to clean.

It’s my new go-to for making shots for all my custom drinks!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make the campfire mocha iced?

Absolutely! An iced campfire mocha is a delicious take on this summertime classic.

To make this tasty treat, combine the mini chocolate chips, marshmallows, and 1/4 of the milk in a small saucepan. Heat while stirring occasionally until the marshmallows and chocolate chips have melted.

Fill your favorite tall glass with ice. Pour over the espresso shot, followed by the flavored milk. Pour the remaining milk in and stir. Enjoy!

Is the campfire mocha available all year long?

The campfire mocha is a regular staple of Caribou, and you can get it regardless of the season.

How much sugar is in a campfire mocha?

The Caribou website lists a medium campfire mocha as containing 70 grams of sugar.

For reference, this is more than 3 times the amount of recommended daily sugar intake.

This recipe contains significantly less sugar at around 25 grams, depending on the type of milk you use.

And you don’t even need to wait in the drive-thru!
